I'm Dominique, a full stack developer based in the DC area running Devezin Digital, a freelance software development practice focused on building custom websites and web applications for small businesses and creatives.

My first career was in public sector financial administration. The background is in Economics, Finance, and Business Management, and most of that work involved finding inefficiencies, modeling problems, and figuring out where processes could be better. At some point, the most interesting solutions to those problems were technical ones. That's what pulled me toward development.

I made the transition seriously — committing to a second bachelor's in Computer Science while taking on development work in parallel. The overlap was intentional. I wanted to understand why things worked, not just how to use them.

What I'm building toward now is a clearer line between someone who makes websites and someone who builds software. Those are different things. Websites are a delivery format. Software is a system with logic, state, user roles, and real behavior to manage. The work I care about most sits on the software side: authentication flows, database design, API development, the kind of backend architecture that makes a product actually function as a product. The web is just where a lot of it lives.

Right now I'm actively developing a custom client management platform in Django — the kind of project that teaches you more in a month about real software development than a year of static sites. It's also the direction I want to take client work: businesses that need something built, not just something published.
